Multilevel parking at two metro stations in Gurgaon soon

Gurgaon: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning to develop multilevel car parking facilities at two key metro stations in the city — on a public-private partnership model — citing rising parking demand and inadequate existing capacity.DMRC has requested Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to grant formal approval to proceed with the development of parking facilities at both stations — Guru Dronacharya metro station and IFFCO Chowk metro station — aligning it with similar infrastructure created in Delhi. If approved, the project is expected to ease congestion around the two busy metro stations and provide structured parking solutions for daily commuters. The parcel lands required for the project were handed over to DMRC by the Haryana govt under a memorandum of understanding signed in 2006 for the extension of the Yellow Line up to Huda City Center (now Millennium City Centre). Land measuring over 2,500 sq.m at Guru Dronacharya and over 6,200 sq.m at IFFCO Chowk was transferred for parking purposes. In its letter on March 17, DMRC said the current parking infrastructure at these stations is insufficient to meet growing commuter needs. The corporation proposed developing multilevel parking complexes through concessionaires, in line with similar projects already operational at stations in Delhi.According to the communication, DMRC highlighted that parking demand has “increased manifold”, while available space remains limited. It noted that multilevel parking projects executed on PPP mode at stations such as Janakpuri West, Rohini and Rajouri Garden have been successful, with a portion of the built-up space also utilized for commercial purposes to offset high construction costs.DMRC said that part of the land at IFFCO Chowk — around 6,279 square meters (with an actual usable area of about 5,895 square meters) — is currently being used as a surface parking facility. It added that a portion of land earmarked earlier was already vacant to facilitate further development. The matter has been under consideration since last year. A meeting between HSVP officials and DMRC representatives in June 2025, in principle, agreed to process the proposal for multilevel parking at both sites, subject to certain conditions, including the vacation of specific land strips. Last year, DMRC vacated over 1,900 square meter land parcel. With this, over 3,900 sq.m is available at IFFCO Chowk.
