Panaji: Questioning state govt’s intent in putting a halt to drug abuse, GFP on Sunday said that the state cannot be allowed to become a safe haven for drug trafficking.“From our beaches to the hinterland and even schools, drugs are spreading alarmingly. Yet the government continues to look the other way. How long will BJP-led govt protect the drug networks, while Goa’s youth pay the price,” said GFP president Vijayi Sardesai. The Fatorda MLA said that he was repeatedly speaking about the growing drug menace in Goa since 2022, even during legislative assembly sessions, but the government ignored the concerns. “I have repeatedly said Goa cannot be allowed to become a narcotics hub,” said Sardesai. His criticism came just a day after a foreigner posted a video of being approached in Calangute by two men who offered to sell drugs to him.
