Among the many voices expressing grief, renowned composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan shared a deeply emotional tribute, capturing the magnitude of the loss felt across the nation. Talking to Bombay Times from the US, he said, “One more shining star is added to the sky and it will be shining forever and blessing the entire world with music that’s going to remain on this planet till humans exist. We’re all heartbroken as music students, and as somebody who worships her, looks up to her as inspiration, not only musically but also generally in life. Just her enthusiasm, her energy for life was unmatched.” Describing her passing as “a very sad day for all of us and a very sad day for Indian music,” Mahadevan struggled to articulate the depth of his sorrow. “I just cannot believe that our dearest Asha Tai is no more,” he said, reflecting not only as a musician but also as a devoted admirer and close family friend. Mahadevan painted a vivid picture of Asha Bhosle not just as a musical icon, but as a force of nature whose spirit transcended age and time. “At the age of 92, she used to be dancing on stage. He added, “I’ve known her for many, many years, and she’s always blessed me with her love and with her admiration for whatever little I have contributed to the music world.
