NOIDA: Police have intensified action in the recent violence case in Noida, registering an FIR against several social media users for allegedly circulating fake and inflammatory videos to disturb public peace. The cyber crime police station filed the case on April 14 against named accused including RJD neta Priyanka Bharti and Dr Kanchana Yadav, along with around 150 unidentified persons. According to police, an old video from Shahdol, dated April 11, was falsely circulated as a Noida incident showing alleged police assault on a worker. Investigation revealed the video actually showed a drunk man creating a disturbance and was shared with misleading captions to provoke outrage. Police also found that a separate claim of arson in Sector 62 was fake. Officials said such posts created panic and tension in several parts of the city. The misinformation surfaced during ongoing protests by workers in Sectors 1 and 6, where roads were blocked at Sandeep Paper Mill Road and Chilla border. Violence during the protest led to damage to property, and Sub-Inspector Yogendra Singh was injured in stone-pelting. Police said the circulation of misleading videos appeared to be a deliberate attempt to incite unrest and worsen the law and order situation. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is underway. Authorities have urged citizens to verify content before sharing it on social media, warning that strict action will be taken against those spreading false or provocative information.
