Actor Adrija Roy, currently seen in Anupamaa, believes acting is an evolving craft shaped by instinct and experience rather than fixed techniques.Speaking about her approach, she says, “I wouldn’t say I follow one fixed method like Method Acting. Over time, I’ve created my own way of working. For me, acting is about understanding the character deeply and reacting naturally in the moment.” She adds that while she draws inspiration from different techniques, she prefers not to confine herself to any one style.Reflecting on how her process has changed, Adrija shares, “In the beginning, I was more conscious and followed a structured way because I was still learning. I would rehearse a lot and sometimes even plan my expressions.” With experience, however, her approach has become more instinctive. “Now I trust myself more and allow the scene to flow. I’ve become more present and spontaneous as an actor,” she says.Talking about preparation, she explains, “It’s a mix of instinct and understanding, but I rely more on instinct. I like to explore the character’s journey and emotions, and then let my feelings guide me.” She also credits personal experiences for helping her connect more honestly with her roles. On influences, she says, “I haven’t followed any one school completely. I’ve learned a lot by observing performances and being on set. For me, being truthful to the character matters most.”She adds, “Every role demands something different. I adjust my body language, voice, and energy accordingly. Stepping out of my comfort zone is what helps me grow.”
