Varanasi: After a gap of several months, the light and sound show of Kashi Vishwanath Dham restarted on the wall along Ganga Dwar at Lalita Ghat on Saturday evening.Temple chief executive officer Vishwa Bhushan Mishra said the light and sound show at Lalita Ghat was halted for months due to rising Ganga water levels that damaged the equipment. Before resuming the show, which features a captivating depiction of Lalita Ghat and the glorious history of Kashi, a trial show was conducted on Friday evening. The sudden rise in the water level of the Ganga river in 2025 had submerged all the poles of the show’s machines and equipment could not be operationalized for months as it was filled with silt. A team comprising specialists and technicians was called from Mumbai to help in this bid.Amidst chanting of ‘Har Har Mahadev’, the show restarted immediately after the completion of Ganga aarti, which recently started at Lalita Ghat by the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust. Now, Mishra said, the twin activities, Ganga aarti and the light and sound show, will add more vibrancy and attraction for the devotees. The laser show will be held daily immediately after the Ganga aarti, he added.
