Margao: : Days after residents of Bamangal, Hodor, in Curchorem stormed the local PWD office over frequent water supply disruptions, the department has water to the affected households through tankers. This offers temporary relief to around 20 families living at higher elevations and struggling with dry taps for over a month.Officials said the existing pipeline serving the high-altitude locality is too small and outdated to sustain adequate water pressure and is prone to frequent bursts whenever pressure is increased. This limitation, they pointed out, has rendered regular piped supply to the area unviable for now.PWD has since submitted a proposal to government for laying a new pipeline to ensure a long-term and reliable water supply for the locality, officials added.The development follows a heated confrontation earlier this week, when Hodor residents descended on the local PWD office, accusing the department of failing to act on repeated complaints. Residents told officials that water supply resumed briefly after complaints, only to fail again within a day or two.
