Noida: Police have mobilized a large security force and imposed prohibitory orders across the district ahead of International Labor Day on Friday, citing the possibility of protests and worker gatherings.Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Surakpha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, has been enforced across the district from April 30 to May 8.To manage the deployment, the commissionerate has divided the district into 11 zones and 49 sectors. While Noida has been split into four zones and 16 sectors, Central Noida into three zones and 24 sectors, and Greater Noida into four zones and nine sectors.

The force mobilized includes personnel drawn from other districts, six SPs, 14 additional SPs, 30 deputy SPs, 65 inspectors, 400 sub-inspectors, 150 women sub-inspectors, 900 constables and 200 women constables. Ten companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been stationed at key locations. Within the commissionerate, two DCPs, three additional DCPs and four ACPs have been assigned duties.“We have strengthened security at important industrial units, multinational companies, small-scale industrial areas, major intersections and other sensitive locations. Several mobile police teams have also been deployed to patrol continuously,” police commissioner Laxmi Singh said.Drone surveillance has been deployed at more than 50 critical locations, complemented by CCTV cameras at key points across the district. A dedicated control room staffed by a gazetted officer has been tasked to monitor all surveillance feeds to ensure immediate response to any emergency.“The comprehensive arrangements are intended to instil a sense of security among citizens and ensure that daily life continues smoothly,” Singh added.On April 13, workers’ protests over minimum wages turned violent as some resorted to stone-pelting and arson.
