Left parties to weigh tie-up, IUML says no

CHENNAI: CPI and CPM have announced they would hold meetings to decide on an alliance with Vijay’s TVK, which has sought support to form the govt. However, long-term DMK ally IUML has rejected TVK’s request. CPI state secretary M Veerapandian said, “We will convene the executive committee meeting to discuss the issue Friday. The outcome will then be discussed in governing council meeting Saturday and state council meeting next.” CPM sources said they would hold meetings to discuss the issue. However, IUML chief KM Khader Mohideen said the party would continue to support the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
