Patna: The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) on Tuesday launched a learning initiative called the Safe Food Game to promote food safety and hygiene among street food vendors. The program was introduced in Patna and New Delhi on the occasion of World Health Day.The launch event in Patna was held at Parivartan Hall in Maurya Lok Complex and attended by officials from the health department and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. “The game functions as a mechanism for building awareness through participation,” said Surendra Roy, nodal officer of the health department. Over 100 vendors took part in the event and were introduced to the digital tool, which evaluates food handling practices through a scoring system and provides corrective instructions in Hindi and other languages.
