In 2024, Wilson told Chandra about 2026 exit

NEW DELHI: Fifty months after taking over Air India, founder Tata Group will now have to expedite its search for a new CEO for the airline – its third in this time frame. The incumbent MD & CEO Campbell Wilson, who took over the position in May 2022, has resigned and will stay in the role until a successor is found. Interestingly, the official announcement said Wilson had conveyed to Tata Sons and AI chairman N Chandrasekaran in 2024 itself that he wanted to step down in 2026.“…. since then, (Wilson) has been working to ensure the organization and leadership team is on a stable footing for the transition. He will remain in the role until his successor is announced and in place… The Air India board has constituted a committee that will find the successor in the coming months,” AI said in a statement about this way too long transition period which had started in 2024 itself.
