Pop star Katy Perry has vehemently denied allegations of sexual assault made by actor Ruby Rose. The Orange Is the New Black star alleged the incident occurred at a nightclub in Melbourne, writing on social media, “Katy Perry sexually (sic) assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a (damn) what she thinks.”Explaining the delay in speaking out, Rose said, “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.”She further shared, “Before I open up about something incredibly raw and traumatic, I tell myself ‘it’s ok, you don’t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer,’ But then I see this post and … tears consume me, in a good way. Thank you.”Rose later stated that she intended to approach authorities, writing that she would go to a police station to see if an investigation into “any of my experiences” of assault could be initiated. “I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try. Both crimes that occurred when you were a child, and those that occurred as an adult ( at least in Australia), But for now I will just say that I was surprised to find the reporting process to be ok.”“Just left the police station,” Rose wrote and added, “said names inside the station that hold much power than me.
