Although pregnant food cravings vary greatly, sometimes certain pairings can be so strange that even the most adventurous food fanatics would think twice before trying. TikTok star and creator, Courtney Cook Bales, who has become famous for sharing her innovative and unique food ideas, is here with one such craving, which she has been keeping from everyone until now.According to a report by People magazine, Bales, whose career went from that of an educator to a content creator, shared a weird craving that she had when she was pregnant, which included mixing peanut butter with Japanese curry.“Sounds crazy, but it’s sweet, salty, and spicy,” Bales admitted.Bales revealed that she used Japanese packaged curry, added some water and vegetables, and then blended it with some peanut butter. She then consumed the dish with crackers, which were used as a dip.The inspiration for this dish occurred to her after living in Japan for two periods of her pregnancy. She would always make Japanese curry whenever she felt hungry. On this day, she wanted to try something new, and the mixture seemed to stick. While having a popular blog, she had not previously posted this recipe on her site. Nonetheless, she did share it with her mother, who even tasted the unique mix.In addition to discussing her own cravings, Bales also touched on her family’s approach to eating. A mother to four children, Bales makes her kids participate in preparing foods and tries various tastes. Some of her children are quite picky with what they eat, but others have a bit more adventurous attitude to their meals. She mentioned that one of her most popular dishes, which includes stuffed sweet potatoes with cheese inside, is a favorite for her picky kids as well.Bales joined TikTok back in May 2025 and managed to get millions of followers thanks to her recipes, which combine various ingredients in unconventional ways. Dumpling pasta and pickle-based recipes are just two examples out of many.“I’m very type B, I’m not organized,” she noted, saying that most of her ideas came from using what she had available. Her rise from the ordinary home cook to internet sensation has been quick, and she has been thankful for the exposure. While she continues to explore in the kitchen, she is still dreaming of the ultimate collaboration—that of working with celebrity chef Ina Garten, who she refers to as “unapologetically fabulous.”For now, though, she’s focused on her “crazy” pregnancy cravings that are drawing the attention yet another reminder that when it comes to food, the craziest idea can end up being quite delicious.
