More like not reacting. To stay safe. Anyhow, New England Patriots broadcast analyst Scott Zolak recently addressed Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini’s situation during his radio show, Zolak & Bertrand, on 98.5 The Sports Hub. A fan mail asked Zolak to discuss the matter. And Zolak tried his level best not to speak much about it and stay within the boundaries—much like NBC Sports regular contributor Mike Florio’s “stay on target. stay on target. stay on target” instruction for fellow host and former Patriots coaching assistant, Chris Simms, during their discussion of the same matter.
Patriots’ Scott Zolak admits to knowing Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini but won’t touch scandal
Discussion via Boston Media Critic: “Matt has emailed in. And he writes, ‘Am I incredibly obtuse or oblivious? Why is Zo uncomfortable with the (Dianna Russini and Mike) Vrabel topic?”“Not uncomfortable with it,” said Zolak via Boston Media Critic. “I’m not going to comment on it. During the football season and multiple times in the offseason, I do things with Mike (Vrabel). And I know Mike. And Mike and I have a good back-and-forth working relationship. I know Mike’s wife; she’s been in some of the meetings. I know Mike’s two sons. I’ve met them, I’ve hung out with them during the football season.”“I know Dianna Russini,” continued the Patriots analyst. “I know the people involved. And I’m in no position to comment on anything that happened between these two. It does me no good.I like my jobs; I like working here, I like working with the Patriots, I like doing games, I like doing TV with them. I like being with the team. For me to sit there and cast stones at this guy would not do me great things. So, there’s your answer in a nutshell. It’s pretty much like the beat reporters.”Any more fuel?
Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel reportedly coordinated on how to respond to the photos.
NBC Sports’ Mike Florio just put forth a surprising reveal. Florio shed light on ESPN’s Ben Strauss’ deep dive report on Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel’s situation.“Among other things, Strauss reports that Russini coordinated with Vrabel about how to respond to the initial story from the New York Post, which posted photos of the two of them together at an adults-only resort in Sedona, Arizona, on April 7,” Florio wrote. Florio further said that this move to communicate with the person involved could be viewed as “a potential violation of the very high bar the publications apply to reporters, when it comes to avoiding conflicts of interest.”Speculation alert: now, if Russini did coordinate her response, it led to her resignation. As for Vrabel, his job reportedly remains safe, and the coach will address the press on draft day.
