Dry days: Bars, liquor shops to remain closed in view of TN assembly election

COIMBATORE: Bars and liquor shops will remain closed in Coimbatore district for three days in view of the Tamil Nadu assembly Election on April 23. According to the district administration, liquor shops and bars, including those operating under FL2 to FL11 licenses (except FL6), will remain shut from 10am on 21 April until the end of April 23, the day of polling. Also, all such establishments will remain closed on May 4, the day of the vote counting. These days have been declared as ‘dry days.’ Any sale of liquor during the prohibited period, illegal stocking or transportation of liquor would attract action under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, the district collector warned.
