Noida: Two students were injured after a school van carrying children rammed into a tree in Greater Noida’s Phi 3 on Monday morning. Police said the van was heading towards Honda Chowk from Kasna around 7.20am when a biker suddenly came in front of it as the driver was taking a right turn. The driver swerved to avoid the biker and crashed into a tree.The motorcyclist fled the scene immediately after the near-collision, police said.The impact of the crash was severe, with the front portion of the van getting heavily damaged and pushed inwards into the driver’s cabin. At the time of the accident, six students between the ages of 10 and 15 were inside the vehicle.Passersby alerted emergency services by calling the 112 helpline. A police team from a nearby outpost reached the spot shortly after and initiated rescue efforts. Two of the students sustained injuries in the crash, while the remaining four students and the driver were uninjured. The injured students were brought to a nearby hospital and are out of danger, cops added.The students’ families were alerted, and it was confirmed that the van was affiliated with a private school in Noida. No formal complaint has been filed in the case so far, but an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact sequence of events and determine any potential lapses.Police said they are also looking into the role of the unidentified motorcyclist, whose sudden appearance reportedly led to the crash. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, they added.
