Gurgaon: A 42-year-old daily wage laborer died after a speeding car hit him and his friend from behind near Intezaar Garden in the Surajkund area on Sunday evening, police said.The deceased, identified as Neeraj, had gone to work as a waiter at a wedding function at Lotus Garden along with his friend Gautam, a resident of Nangloi in Delhi. After finishing their shift, the two were walking towards Delhi while looking for transport when the accident occurred around 7pm.According to police, a car approached from the Anangpur Chowk side at high speed and rammed into the duo from behind. Both men sustained serious injuries and were rushed to BK Hospital in Faridabad, where Neeraj succumbed during treatment.“Gautam suffered multiple injuries, including a forehead wound and swelling in the ankle. He was referred to AIIMS Trauma Center and later shifted to a private hospital in Faridabad. His condition remains serious, and he is currently unfit to give a statement,” an investigating officer said.The incident came to light after Neeraj’s family, concerned over his absence, traced his whereabouts and approached the police the following day.Based on a complaint filed by his brother, a resident of Nangloi, Surajkund police registered an FIR against an unidentified driver under Sections 106 (death by negligence), 125(a) (endangering life) and 281 (rash driving) of BNS.Police said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused. The body has been kept in the mortuary for postmortem, and further investigation is in progress.
