Danielle Crowther, a 31-year-old woman from Whitstable, Kent, envisioned a fairytale wedding – and, for the most part, it was. But then the ambulance arrived, instead of a horse-drawn carriage, and the bride spent the night in the back of it in her wedding gown. The next day, when she woke up, she had no recollection of the events, but a viral video captured everything. The incident went viral after a video showed a paramedic lifting the unconscious bride out of the reception. While the wedding ceremony with her husband, Lewis, went perfectly at the Canterbury Register Office, the 40-guest reception turned into what Danielle calls the ‘drunkest’ moment of her life.
Drinks on an empty stomach
A stay-at-home mum, Danielle planned her big day to a tee. “I was dancing, and I went over to sit next to my little boy. I sat on the chair and just went. It’s the drunkest I’ve been in my life. I was taken home. I said I’m not going to drink that much. It was 100% wedding stress; I suffer from anxiety anyway,” she told Mirror UK.The stress of the wedding, along with having alcohol on an empty stomach, led to the incident. “My husband did find it funny, but he had quite a bit to drink as well. Looking back, it made it better; it’s funny. It didn’t ruin the wedding. I would tell brides to eat while they’re getting ready and not drink on an empty stomach. I couldn’t eat anything because of the stress,” she said.
Wedding reception concluded on a memorable note
Danielle Crowther had been planning the wedding for about six months. “We were together a couple of months before he proposed. We’d known each other for years.”On the wedding day, she skipped meals. She didn’t eat while getting ready, and well-meaning guests handed her drinks throughout the night. “Everything was absolutely fine; it went really smoothly. At the reception, I kept having drinks handed to me, and I went to sit down next to my little one and just went. I must have fallen asleep, but I was unresponsive. I had a lot of drinks, shots, all different stuff. I was mixing different things; I really should have stuck to one drink. It was a bit of everything. It was in the last half an hour of it (the reception),” the newlywed recalled. She had one too many drinks before falling unconscious. Her husband dialed 999, and paramedics arrived. “My husband called the ambulance. I don’t remember it at all. They didn’t take me to hospital because they said I was intoxicated. I felt awful; my head was spinning.”The paramedics took her home, and the next morning, when she woke up, she had no recollection of the incident. The video went viral, racking up nearly 50,000 views in a matter of hours. “Oh my God, how bloody embarrassing,” Danielle said.Danielle Crowther wanted her wedding to be memorable. Though it didn’t go completely as planned, it surely turned out to be one hell of a story – something that she won’t ever forget, even if she wants to!
