Finish all drainage works by May 15: Buidco MD
In a proactive move for Patna’s infrastructure, Animesh Kumar Parashar, the managing director of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation, conducted a thorough inspection of the city’s latest drainage projects. He emphasizes the urgency of completing these systems by May 15.

Patna: Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (BUIDCO) managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction works of new drains and drainage pumping stations (DPS) in the city.During the inspection, Parashar instructed officials to ensure that all remaining works are completed by May 15 so that the entire system is operational well ahead of the monsoon. He noted that the construction of a culvert linking the DPS to the nala is in its final stage and stressed the need for completing it without delay.Calling the project a major step towards a permanent solution to Patna’s waterlogging problem, the MD said the new system would facilitate quick drainage of rainwater from several parts of Kankarbagh. He added that diverting water to the new DPS would also significantly reduce the excess load on the existing Pahari DPS, strengthening the city’s overall drainage network.A key component of this effort is the Nandlal Chapra DPS, located near Bhootnath Metro Station, which is being connected to the Yogipur Nala. Under the project, water from the Yogipur Nala is being diverted to the newly built pumping station, enabling more efficient management of excess rainwater during heavy spells.According to officials, the diversion is expected to improve drainage performance considerably by enhancing capacity and reducing pressure on older infrastructure. The project is expected to provide long-term relief to residents of Kankarbagh and nearby areas, which routinely face inundation during the monsoon, officials added.
