KOLKATA: The record turnout in the first phase of Bengal polls has “sounded the bugle” for the end of Trinamool’s “maha jungle raj”, PM Narendra Modi said on Friday, linking people’s participation as an endorsement of BJP’s slogan of “bharosa” (trust) over “bhay” (fear).Accusing Trinamool of “crushing the temple of democracy” in the state, Modi said the second phase of polling will put the “victory flag on that temple”.Speaking at a rally in Jadavpur, Modi said, “There will be districts where TMC will not get a single seat. BJP’s win will be massive and decisive.”“Everyone is now talking about the huge support BJP is getting from Bengal. People, whether a small shop owner or a big trader, have overcome fear,” Modi said..The PM said women were writing the “script for a new Bengal”, contrasting “torture on women” against BJP’s “women-led development”. Campaigning for the RG Kar rape-murder victim’s mother in North 24 Parganas earlier in the day, the PM launched a sharp attack on TMC over the incident.Modi said BJP has fielded several women who have suffered “injustice”. “BJP has made the RG Kar victim’s mother and a woman from Sandeshkhali its candidates. The mother groomed her daughter to be a doctor but the ‘maha jungle raj’ snatched her daughter,” he said, accusing TMC of abusing both contestants.He said TMC was asking women “not to step out of their homes to avoid rape”. “They don’t want women to dream. BJP will not allow them to crush our daughters’ dreams,” he said, promising to reopen cases of injustice against women if BJP is voted to office.The RG Kar victim’s mother later told reporters: “Modiji told me that I am fighting with great patience. When I told him that I want justice for my daughter, I want to reveal her name, he put his hand on my head… Didi came to our house after four days of the incident and said the actual culprit was caught.
