LUCKNOW: Yogi Adityanath on Sunday lauded the performance of women recruits during police training, saying they demonstrated “strength, readiness, dedication and discipline” — qualities essential for a professional and people-centric police force.Addressing the passing-out parade of 60,244 Civil Police constables of the 2025 batch under the direct recruitment drive, the chief minister said that discipline and teamwork form the backbone of uniformed services. “The more you sweat during training, the less blood will be shed later,” he remarked, underlining the importance of rigorous preparation. The ceremony was held at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow, where the chief minister inspected the parade and took the salute.Congratulating the newly inducted constables—especially women recruits—Adityanath said they had undergone intensive training with commitment and discipline and would now move into field postings across districts. He emphasized that law enforcement must be firm against criminals while remaining sensitive toward citizens, urging the recruits to uphold integrity, dedication, and professionalism in their duties. The chief minister noted that the passing-out parade was simultaneously held across 10 police training institutes, 73 district police lines, 29 PAC battalions, and 112 Recruit Training Centers across the state. He recalled that the recruits had received their appointment letters on June 15, 2025, from Amit Shah at the Defense Expo Ground in Lucknow, and their training commenced on July 21.Adityanath added that he personally visited several training centers during this period and observed significant improvements in infrastructure and training standards.Highlighting reforms since 2017, the chief minister said the Uttar Pradesh Police had evolved from a force facing multiple challenges into one of the finest in the country. He stated that over 2.18 lakh personnel have been recruited and more than one lakh promotions granted during this period.Training capacity, which stood at around 3,000 previously, has expanded significantly, enabling simultaneous training of over 60,000 constables within the state—an achievement reflecting nearly a decade of institutional progress.Adityanath pointed out that dilapidated barracks that existed before 2017 have now been replaced with high-rise residential facilities in 55 districts. Training centers have been modernised, and recruits now receive both foundational and professional training. He highlighted the launch of a dedicated police training portal and the introduction of scientific physical training modules, including a “Smart PT” programme. Weapon training has also been upgraded, replacing outdated .303 rifles with modern INSAS and SLR rifles.Referring to the Centre’s capacity-building initiative, the chief minister said Uttar Pradesh has performed strongly under Mission Karmayogi, guided by Narendra Modi. He noted that lakhs of training modules have been completed by government employees, with UP Police contributing significantly. He also highlighted specialized training being imparted to the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad in line with national and international standards, including those of the National Investigation Agency. Additionally, cyber policing capabilities have been strengthened with cyber police stations now operational in all 75 districts. The establishment of the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences in Lucknow was cited as a major step toward strengthening scientific investigation.Adityanath asserted that Uttar Pradesh now enjoys a stronger law-and-order environment, with criminals operating under fear of the law and police morale significantly boosted. He claimed that incidents like riots, organized extortion, and parallel power structures have been effectively curbed. He added that the proportion of women personnel in the police force has risen from around 13% to over 36%, strengthening gender representation. The chief minister highlighted ongoing initiatives under “Mission Shakti” aimed at women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment. Dedicated centers have been established in every police station, and women PAC battalions formed in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Badaun, with additional units in the pipeline. He also mentioned the implementation of Safe City projects in multiple urban centers and Gautam Buddh Nagar.Emphasizing zero tolerance towards crime, the chief minister said the state government has significantly increased the police budget—more than tripling it since 2017. Institutional reforms include the creation of seven police commissionerates and the formation of the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF).He further highlighted the establishment of forensic laboratories, mobile forensic units in each district, and the dramatic improvement in emergency response time of UP-112—from 65 minutes earlier to just 6–7 minutes now.
