WWE aired the April 27 episode of Monday Night RAW from the Sames Auto Arena in Laredo, Texas. It saw the beginning of the road to Backlash with two major matches set in stone for the event, Joe Hendry debuting his concert and then taking out The Vision with The Street Profits’ help, an open challenge for a title and other exciting matches and moments that made it an enthralling show.
What happened in the opening segment of wwe raw (April 27)?
Seth Rollins came out to open the show and called out Bron Breakker for costing him his WrestleMania 42 match. He came out with Paul Heyman and both men fired highly personal shots against each other. This led to Rollins granting a chance to face him in a singles match at WWE Backlash PLE, which was later made official.
Penta vs. rusev
This was non-title singles match between Intercontinental Champion Penta and Rusev. The Bulgarian Brute had dominance in the match, but Penta managed to hold his own. In the end, Rusev had him locked in the Accolade, but Penta escaped and rolled him up for the pin. Following the match, he was attacked by both Rusev and Ethan Page, only for Je’Von Evans to come to his aid.
Becky Lynch vs. IYO Sky
The match was made after new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch laid out an open challenge and IYO Sky answered following some scratching words from The Man. It was one of the top showdowns of the night as Lynch’s title was on the line. In the final moments, Asuka interfered, allowing Lynch to hit the Manhandle Slam and retain her title. Following that, Asuka made Sky pass out of the Asuka lock.
Rey Mysterio vs. The Grand American
Rey Mysterio squared off against Los Americanos’ leader El Grande Americano in a singles match. The exciting action between both luchadors ended with Mysterio hitting the 619 and Springboard splash on El Grande to pick up the victory.
Oba Femi vs. grayson waller
This was a squash match as Oba Femi finished off Grayson Waller in mere minutes and delivered a Fall from Grace to seal the victory.
Bayley & Lyra Valkyria vs. Raquel Rodirguez & Roxanne Perez
This was a tag team match between both sides. It was a good match on the card which ended with Liv Morgan distracting Bayley long enough for Roxanne Perez to hit the Shining Wizard and a Pop Rox for the victory for her team.
What happened in the closing segment of WWE RAW?
Roman Reigns came out in the final segment to address Jacob Fatu’s challenge for the World title at Backlash. The Samoan Werewolf joined him and said he was ready. However, Reigns began to insult him claiming he was the reason Fatu was in WWE. This led Fatu to attack him and leaving him lying in the ring.
