Tiruchuli Assembly Election Results 2026

Tiruchuli in Virudhunagar district is considered the political home turf of senior DMK leader Thangam Thennarasu. In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s Thangam Thennarasu won with 1,02,225 votes, defeating AIADMK’s S. Rajasekar by a margin of 60,992 votes. In the 2016 Assembly elections, Thangam Thennarasu of the DMK won with 89,927 votes, defeating AIADMK’s K. Dinesh Babu by 26,577 votes. In the 2011 Assembly elections, DMK’s Thangam Thennarasu secured victory with 81,613 votes, defeating AIADMK’s Esakki Muthu by 19,952 votes. The constituency has consistently backed the DMK in the last three Assembly elections, with Thangam Thennarasu winning the seat each time. The 234-seat Assembly election in Tamil Nadu will see the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, take on the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and a resurgent BJP-led alliance. The campaign is centered around issues such as welfare schemes, law and order, and the broader debate between Dravidian political identity and national integration narratives. While the DMK government is highlighting its record on industrial growth and social justice, the opposition has targeted it over allegations of corruption and concerns about power shortages.
