TIRUVANNAMALAI: The Vandavasi all-women police have arrested three men, including a 19-year-old boy, on charges of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a village near Vandavasi. Police booked them under the different sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.Police said the survivor had become acquainted with a 19-year-old youth while they were students at a school a couple of years ago. He allegedly lured the girl with false promises of marriage and sexually assaulted her. Two other men, aged 33 and 35 years, from the same village, also allegedly enticed and sexually assaulted the minor separately on different occasions.The crime came to light when the girl’s family noticed physical changes in her and took her to the Tiruvannamalai govt medical college hospital for treatment. Medical examinations confirmed that the teenager was pregnant. Her parents lodged a complaint with Vandavasi all-women police. The arrested trio were remanded in judicial custody.
