Utpal Borah of the BJP emerged victorious in the election, securing a total of 96582 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Sankar Jyoti Kutum by a decisive margin of 52722 votes.Statewide, exit polls indicate a strong performance by the BJP-led government, suggesting that Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to continue as chief minister. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Utpal Borah won the seat with 93,224 votes.Congress candidate Ripun Bora finished second with 63,930 votes, losing by a margin of 29,294 votes.In the 2016 Assembly elections, Gohpur had 1,71,284 electors, with 1,46,618 valid votes recorded.BJP’s Utpal Borah won with 85,424 votes, defeating Congress candidate Monika Bora, who secured 56,489 votes.
