Vriddhachalam Assembly constituency in Cuddalore district is a significant seat, notably once represented by DMDK founder Vijayakant. It is known for its diverse electoral history involving various parties. In the 2021 Assembly elections, INC’s R. Radhakrishnan won the seat with 77,064 votes, defeating PMK’s J. Karthikeyan, who secured 76,202 votes. The margin of victory was extremely slim at 862 votes.
