CPM politburo to analyze poll losses in Kerala, West Bengal

Ranchi: Conceding the defeat of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, CPI (M) leaders in Jharkhand on Monday the alliance did its best to meet the aspirations of the people of the southern state during its 10 years in office.Noting that the electorate of Kerala changes govt every five years, party state secretary Prakash Viplav said, “CPI(M) respects the people’s verdict. The upcoming meetings of the politburo and the central committee will undertake a comprehensive analysis and formulate a plan of action to meet the challenges posed by the new political situation emerging from the election results.”On West Bengal, he said CPI(M) slightly improved its performance and was leading in two seats. He added that BJP govts in West Bengal and Bihar could affect Jharkhand politics, and the party could try to overthrow the state govt here.Meanwhile, the CPI politburo said in West Bengal the BJP benefited from several factors, including strong anti-incumbency, besides BJP’s communal, divisive and vitriolic hate campaign, spending of huge amounts of money, misuse of central agencies, special intensive review.The politburo said results in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry showed the ascendancy of right-wing communal forces led by the BJP, causing deep concern among secular, progressive and democratic forces.
