The first Monday of May is already here, bringing fashion’s biggest night of the year: the Met Gala. With hundreds of celebrities, designers, and fashion enthusiasts flying into New York, our eyes were on the queen of the hour, Anne Hathaway. Amidst the release of her film ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, the diva stepped onto the carpet carrying a bit of quiet political edge.As many know, this year’s theme is ‘Costume Art.’ The dress code states, ‘Fashion Is Art,’ meaning everyone should arrive in something that embodies the artistry and vision of the style world. But Anne did something more to her gown, which not only featured a bold plunging neckline but also made a global political statement.

She arrived in a customized Michael Kors plunging black-and-white ballgown featuring a white dove placed on a white hand on the front. This is mainly a common symbol for peace and truly stands as a political statement amid the war and anger scenes around the world.
She wore a sharp-looking golden necklace with minimal ear cuffs and kept her styling simple. Tying her hair into a beautiful high bun, she sported dewy makeup with defined eyebrows, soft, smoky eyes, a winged eyeliner touch, and a nude lipstick finish. Aging like a fine wine, this is Anne Hathaway’s eighth appearance at the Met Gala.

She made her debut in 2009, and since then, she’s been a regular and has arrived in a range of outstanding fits with a luxe look that has always subtly paid homage to the theme. And, this year, she decided to tell a message on behalf of the world.Well, Hathaway has surely lit up the social media conversations, where now people are dissecting every little detail. So, was this a high-fashion drama gig or a carefully coded statement? She has definitely delivered something that is more layered than what meets the eye. Also spotted on the red carpet was Madame Miranda Priestly aka Meryl Streep, who wore a stunning custom Chanel gown with feathers.
