Scientists like this technology because it lets them make a lot of vaccine doses quickly if they need to.The H5N1 bird flu strain is a threat to people and animals in the area around Nottingham. Some farms in Nottinghamshire have already had to kill all their birds because of the bird flu virus. Around the world 116 people have gotten the bird flu virus since 2024. Almost all of these people got the virus from touching animals. The University of Nottingham and other researchers want to make sure they have a vaccine that works before the bird flu virus starts spreading from person to person.The University of Nottingham is one of 26 places in the UK where this trial is happening. The trial will have, around 3,000 adult volunteers. The main goal is to see if the vaccine is safe and if it can help people’s bodies fight the bird flu virus.
