US President Donald Trump revealed a humorous autocorrect mishap on Truth Social, where his phone repeatedly changed “Melania” to “Melody” in posts. Initially baffled, Trump eventually enlisted the military to fix the persistent glitch, a resolution that amused the audience and sparked relatable online reactions, despite the unusual fix.

Anyone who has ever sent a text with an autocorrect disaster knows the sinking feeling. US President Donald Trump, it turns out, is no stranger to it—except his version played out very publicly, on Truth Social, in front of the entire internet. At a White House Mother’s Day event on Tuesday, Trump recounted how his phone kept changing “Melania” to “Melody” in his social media posts. He would type out a warm message for the First Lady, hit post, and not think twice about it.“Every time I wrote ‘Melania,’ it would correct to ‘Melody,’” he said. “And sometimes I wouldn’t proofread it, and I would get just absolute decimated.”

Trump kept calling Melania ‘Melody’ in posts without realizing why

The posts went out. People noticed. Comments started rolling in questioning whether he even knew his wife’s name. Trump says he was genuinely puzzled at first—the autocorrect angle hadn’t clicked yet.“What the hell is wrong with this machine? I didn’t know about that little feature,” he said, getting laughs from the crowd.Once he figured out what was happening, he wanted it fixed immediately.

It took a call to the military to finally sort out the autocorrect setting

“You know who corrected it? The military,” Trump said. “I said, ‘Come here, you got to correct this. You’re killing me.’”Most smartphone users would have solved this in under a minute—adding a name to your contacts is usually enough to stop autocorrect from mangling it. But Trump’s version of the story has a more dramatic resolution, which at least makes it more entertaining to hear. The crowd at the event found it funny. Online reactions were mixed, though many agreed the autocorrect glitch itself was genuinely relatable, even if the military-assisted fix was not.
