Daniil Medvedev stays hopeful despite difficult clay season
Daniil Medvedev has not enjoyed the best clay-court swing this season. He suffered a first-round defeat against Matteo Berrettini at the Monte Carlo Masters and later lost to Flavio Cobolli in the Round of 16 at the Madrid Open. However, the Russian believes his performances were better than the final results suggested.Speaking ahead of the Italian Open, Medvedev explained that he was happy with the level he showed in Madrid. He said the match against Cobolli was intense and filled with high-quality tennis, even though it ended in defeat.
