Patna: The Cybercrime and Security Unit (CCSU) of Bihar Police has achieved significant success in the first week of the special campaign “Cyber Prahar 3.0”, launched last week, with 31 FIRs registered and 50 accused arrested across 19 districts of the state. The statewide operation aims to effectively curb cyber crimes and dismantle organized fraud networks, including mule account operators, gangs using fake Aadhaar cards and forged documents, suspicious point of sale (POS) agents and those circulating objectionable online content related to children.Supaul recorded the highest number of arrests with 10 accused held and four FIRs registered, followed by Purnia with nine arrests and three FIRs. Saran registered three FIRs and three arrests. Action was also taken in several other districts, including Nalanda, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, Madhepura, Khagaria, Bhojpur, Rohtas and Buxar.SP Cyber (cooperation and investigation) Vaibhav Sharma said, “During the operation, police seized numerous mobile phones, electronic devices, forged identity proofs, suspicious banking documents and digital evidence. Technical and forensic examination of the seized materials is underway to trace and arrest additional members of these cyber crime networks.”Investigations revealed the accused were using fake Aadhaar cards, forged identity proofs, fake KYC documents and counterfeit certificates to open illegal bank accounts and obtain unauthorized SIM cards for laundering money generated through cyber frauds.Sharma appealed to the public not to share bank account details, OTPs, Aadhaar numbers or any KYC documents with unknown persons. “Any suspicious online activity should be immediately reported to the national cyber helpline, cybercrime portal or the nearest cyber police station. The special campaign ‘Cyber Prahar 3.0’ will continue with full intensity across Bihar,” the SP added.During the earlier campaign, Prahar 2.0, police registered 122 FIRs and arrested 89 people between March and April 2026.
