Nearly 13 months after wads of burnt cash were found at his official residence while he was a Delhi High Court judge, Justice Yashwant Varma brought the curtains down on the issue by tendering his resignation.
After the allegations of corruption surfaced, Justice Varma was repatriated from Delhi to the Allahabad High Court and took office in April 2025. Justice Varma fought tooth and nail against the charges. He denied, before a Supreme Court-appointed committee, that the cash – recovered from his official residence following a fire last year – belonged to him.
