Panaji: Announcing that work experience in the private sector is a key criteria for recruitment for govt jobs, chief minister Pramod Sawant announced that govt plans to recruit around 2,500 individuals through the Staff Selection Commission.“The Staff Selection Commission is a transparent process. Exams for 2,500 jobs will be conducted in the coming days and the recruitment for 2,500 will also be completed soon. It is time for everyone to prepare for competitive exams,” said Sawant.He also said that 20% of govt vacancies being advertised are being kept aside for candidates who have worked with the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC). He was speaking at the Job Fair 2026 organized by GHRDC at Verna Industrial Estate.The job fair brought together 25 companies offering around 740 vacancies across various sectors, with about 1,300 candidates being picked by the private sector.“We have the Staff Selection Commission, but even if you want to join as a multi-tasking staff or lower division clerk, one year experience is compulsory,” said the CM. He said that government is also promoting entrepreneurship among youths.“Our government is fully committed to providing employment opportunities for our youth.” Sawant also emphasized the importance of encouraging youth to explore opportunities in the private sector and entrepreneurship.He said that govt is willing to provide upskilling courses for staff hired by manufacturing units if the manufacturing units are willing to pay the stipend for the staff.The CM said the role of structured programs such as the Chief Minister Rozgar Yojana and skill development initiatives in strengthening employment pathways and promoting entrepreneurship among youths.
