Gumla: With an overall pass percentage of 99.32%, Gumla outperformed all other districts in the class X results of Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), which were announced on Thursday.A tribal dominated district, a string of key interventions over the past few years helped turnaround the district’s story, officials here said.In 2025, Gumla was ranked 20th among 24 districts of the state. In 2024, it was ranked seventh.A total of 13,760 who appeared in the JAC X board exams from the district this year. Of them, 13,667 passed. While two students scored 99.2% to emerge as second toppers statewide, as many as 10,254 students secured first division.Officials in the district education department credited the impressive performance to the Gift of Education project in 2023, where all officials of the district were tasked with regular monitoring of schools in their respective areas.While the project helped the district secure seventh spot in 2024, a dip in rankings in 2025 prompted the district administration to roll out ‘Board Exam Vijay Abhiyan’. Under the initiative, deputy commissioner Prerna Dixit revamped the entire pre-examination process. While the focus was on close monitoring, Dixit herself spoke to students over video calls.Reacting to outcome, incumbent DC Dileshwar Mahto said, “This success is the result of teamwork, constant monitoring, and the dedication of teachers, education staff, and all district and block-level officials. Our students have reached this milestone through sheer hard work. We are confident that Gumla will repeat this performance in the class 12 board results as well.”“The historic success is the result of the robust strategy and continuous efforts of education department which ensured timely syllabus completion, followed by rigorous revision, support system by a district control room monitored teaching quality and the daily tasks of block program officers, block resource persons and cluster resource persons remedial classes for weaker students, regular practice with model question papers, winter special homework, and pre-board exams,” said district education officer Kavita Khalkho.District superintendent of education (DSE) Noor Alam Khan said that in close coordination with the district administration, specific responsibilities were assigned personnel teams of district and block-level teachers, and senior officials and the whole system worked in tandem to ensure good performance.
