Jharkhand Power Supply Boost: JBVNL Deploys Special Officers for 24x7 Uninterrupted Electricity

Ranchi: In a bid to ensure 24×7 uninterrupted power supply across the state, the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) has deputed a team of ‘special officers’ to monitor and review power infrastructure.According to an order issued by JBVNL managing director and energy department secretary K Srinivasan, the officers have been authorized to visit their assigned electric supply circles every week. The primary objective of these field visits is to monitor critical power network infrastructure, such as power sub-stations and distribution transformers, while reviewing preparedness for the operation and maintenance of the networks. The deputation covers all 13 electricity supply circles across the state, with key technical and administrative heads assigned to specific regions. Among the officials, PK Srivastava, director (D&P), will oversee Ranchi, while Arvind Kumar, executive director (C&R), and Sudhir Kumar, executive director (O&M), have been tasked with monitoring Gumla and Chaibasa, respectively. The order mandates that the authorized officers must submit a detailed report, including their professional opinions, to the headquarters within the same week of their field visits. The proactive monitoring strategy aims to streamline power distribution and address potential infrastructure bottlenecks before they result in consumer outages.Special grievance redressal camps will be held from May 11 to 30. DN Sahu, JBVNL electrical superintendent engineer for the Ranchi circle, said, “These camps will be held daily at different locations over the 20-day period to ensure the entire district is covered.”Sahu said that the initiative aims to address consumer concerns, including billing disputes, meter issues, frequent power outages, and requests for new connections. “The goal is to provide immediate resolutions whenever possible, depending on the specific nature of the complaint,” he added.
