The Las Vegas Raiders are heading into the 2026 NFL Draft with a familiar storyline swirling around them. Star pass rusher Maxx Crosby remains at the center of trade chatter, even though the franchise has shown no urgency to move him. That has not stopped rival teams and analysts from imagining blockbuster deals, especially with contenders looking to fix defensive weaknesses quickly. One of the loudest ideas connects Crosby to the Dallas Cowboys. With their defense struggling to generate consistent pressure, the suggestion of adding an elite edge presence has gained traction. The proposed package is not small, but it reflects Crosby’s value as one of the league’s most disruptive defenders when healthy.
Cowboys and Bills emerge as aggressive suitors in Maxx Crosby sweepstakes
According to Ralph Vacchiano, Dallas could offer a first-round pick and multiple mid-round selections to secure Maxx Crosby. The logic is simple. A team with playoff ambitions cannot afford a weak pass rush, and Crosby could instantly change that identity.“This is probably a very un-Jerry Jones-like move, but the Cowboys’ defense is a mess, and they desperately need help with their pass rush,” Vacchiano wrote in his April 8 article. “It would be costly, though not as costly as the two first-round picks the Ravens initially agreed to send to Vegas for Crosby before that trade fell apart.“The Cowboys have two first-rounders, so they could part with one and sweeten the deal with a couple of thirds. Assuming Crosby’s knee isn’t ravaged, it’s worth the risk for a team desperate to make a Super Bowl run, because adding Crosby would give the Cowboys one of the best defensive fronts in the league.”The Buffalo Bills have also been floated as a serious landing spot. Analyst Garrett Podell pointed out their lack of a dominant pass rusher since Leonard Floyd’s 2023 season. With general manager Brandon Beane known for bold moves, Buffalo could push hard if the price drops.Inside the Raiders locker room, though, the tone feels different. New quarterback Kirk Cousins made it clear how highly Crosby is viewed.“There’s only a handful of guys in the league, maybe a half-dozen, that truly you’re thinking about as you prepare for them the entire week, every play, saying, ‘What are we doing about this guy?’” Cousins said in an April 6 video on the Raiders’ YouTube channel.“And there’s only about a half-dozen of them. Maxx is one of those guys where, you know, you are all week long wondering how he could wreck the game on this play, on this play, on this play.”For now, Crosby remains a Raider. But with the draft approaching, the noise is only getting louder.
