Renault Global CEO Francois Provost outlines India roadmap.

Renault has laid out an aggressive future plan for India, with the French carmaker aiming to make the country one of its top three global markets by 2030. The announcement was made by CEO Francois Provost, as the company shared details of its upcoming product launches, new platforms and electrification strategy.

Renault India’s big plans for the Indian market

As part of this roadmap, Renault plans to introduce seven new models in India by the end of the decade, contributing to a wider global rollout of 36 vehicles. The upcoming line-up will include a mix of petrol, CNG, hybrid and fully electric models. The company is also targeting a major shift towards cleaner mobility, with electrified vehicles expected to make up nearly 50 per cent of its total sales in India by 2030.A key part of this strategy is the introduction of two new platforms. The first is the RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform), a flexible architecture designed to support multiple powertrains including ICE, CNG, flex-fuel, hybrid and electric setups. It can accommodate both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, including electric AWD. This platform will underpin body styles such as SUVs, hatchbacks and MPVs, with five- and seven-seat layouts. Renault says the platform will be 90 percent India specific.

The second architecture, RGEP (Renault Group Entry Platform), will focus on more affordable offerings. It is expected to serve as the base for future compact cars, including successors to models like the Renault Kiger and Renault Triber. This platform will support petrol and CNG engines along with AMT and CVT gearbox options, and will cater to vehicles in the sub-4 meter segment, measuring roughly between 3.7 meters and 3.95 meters.

Renault Bridger launch timeline, engine revealed

Leading Renault’s upcoming product wave will be the Bridger SUV, which is expected to debut in India around late 2027. The Bridger is set to launch initially with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, but it has been developed with future electrification in mind. Renault has already confirmed that fully electric versions of the SUV are in the pipeline, with the EV potentially becoming the brand’s first all-electric offering for India. Notably, India will be the first market globally to receive the Bridger.Beyond product launches, Renault is also looking to strengthen its role as an export hub. The company is targeting annual exports worth 2 billion euros from India by 2030.
