Viral video: Low-flying Boeing 767 aircraft hits truck near US runway; driver suffers injuries

A routine airport landing in the United States turned tense after a commercial aircraft came dangerously close to a moving truck near a runway. A now-viral dashcam video has drawn widespread attention online, capturing the frightening moment the incident unfolded within seconds.The incident involved a United Airlines Boeing 767 arriving at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey from Venice, Italy, with 231 passengers and crew members onboard, as reported by the BBC.According to reports, the aircraft came into contact with a truck moving on a road near the runway during landing. A nearby streetlight was also reportedly struck.Dashcam footage from inside the truck shows the low-flying plane moments before impact, followed by shattered glass inside the vehicle.

Truck driver injured after impact

The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was treated for cuts on the arm and hand caused by broken glass.The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew members onboard were unharmed, according to the reports.

United Airlines launches investigation

United Airlines confirmed that an internal investigation is underway. The airline also stated that the crew involved has been removed from service during the review process, as highlighted by CBS News.

NTSB begins formal investigation

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has also opened a formal investigation into the incident. Officials have requested the aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder as part of the probe.The NTSB said investigators will examine multiple factors, including flight operations, weather conditions, crew coordination, aircraft performance, and air traffic control communication.The agency has classified the incident as an “accident” because of the damage involved.Thumb image:
