Weeks after 'Sold Out' message on website, Samsung is restocking Galaxy Z TriFold in US: Here's when you can buy it

A shipment of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to arrive in the US this week, according to Samsung‘s product page. This comes weeks after a report by Bloomberg said that the South Korean company is winding down sales of the Galaxy Z TriFold – the $2,899 (approximately Rs 2.68 lakh) phone, just three months after it first hit shelves. Samsung has already placed a countdown timer on the trifold’s product page, signaling that stock will be limited and the window to buy will be short.

How to buy Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold in US

Samsung has a countdown live on the Galaxy Z TriFold product page ahead of the April 10 restock. Given that previous batches sold out, anyone interested to purchase the phone is being advised to have payment details ready before the stock goes live. Whether this is the final shipment remains officially unconfirmed by Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: A phone that came and went quickly

The Galaxy Z TriFold was launched in December, went on sale earlier this year and sold out each batch that made it to retail. Yet just three months after launch, Samsung quietly discontinued it. According to reporting by South Korean newspaper Dong-A Ilbo, the reason was not demand but economics. Despite selling out, the TriFold reportedly offered Samsung very little in the way of profit, the report pointed out.A company spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg, saying: “Sales will be halted immediately in Samsung’s home market, and in the US, sales will continue only until the remaining inventory is cleared.”Despite the official wind-down, a few units are still said to be floating around. As per reports on Reddit and other social media platforms suggest that a small number of devices have been spotted at Samsung Experience Stores in Frisco, Texas, and Queens in New York – essentially making it a tech collectors item. The report also pointed out that the reason for an early exit is that it was meant only for a tiny group of “early adopters”. The phone unfurled from a standard-sized phone into a massive 10-inch tablet. Furthermore, unlike the Galaxy S or Z Fold series, the TriFold was never sold by mobile carriers like Verizon or AT&T.
