2 Lawrence Bishnoi gang members arrested in extortion and firing conspiracy against jeweler in Rajasthan

JAISALMER: Police have arrested two members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with a conspiracy to carry out firing and reconnaissance for extortion targeting a jeweler in Sri Ganganagar. With these arrests, a total of seven accused have been apprehended so far in the case.Superintendent of police Harishankar Yadav said that the incident took place under the jurisdiction of Kotwali Police Station, where members of a criminal gang allegedly threatened a city jeweler with death for extortion and conducted reconnaissance to intimidate him.Following the registration of a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 308(5), 351(3), 111(2)(B), 111(3), and 61(2)(A), investigation was initiated by Station House Officer Prithvipal Singh.Considering the seriousness of the case, multiple police teams were formed to trace and arrest the accused. Acting on technical surveillance and informer inputs, police arrested: Pradeep Sharma alias Golu Pandit, 22, resident of Mahavir Nagar, Pakki Taliya, Baha police station area, Agra district, Uttar Pradesh.Deepak alias Tushar, 25, resident of Bijoli, Baha police station area, Agra district, Uttar Pradesh.Police said the gang had threatened the jeweler with death for extortion money and later conducted reconnaissance with the intention of carrying out firing to terrorize and cause damage. Both accused were wanted in the case, and police teams had been continuously pursuing them.Kotwali SHO Prithvipal Singh brought the accused from Mumbai Central Jail on a production warrant. They were produced before the court and taken on remand for further interrogation.SP Harishankar Yadav stated that the Lawrence gang had planned the firing to create fear among businessmen. He added that accused Pradeep Sharma alias Golu Pandit had earlier been arrested in 2026 by Jawahar Nagar Police in connection with a firing incident at the residence of property dealer Raju Kathuria in Agrasen Chowk. He had also been arrested about two months ago with illegal weapons.Police further revealed that Pradeep and Deepak had earlier carried out a firing incident in Mumbai on the instructions of the Lawrence gang. After their arrest in Sri Ganganagar, Mumbai Police had taken them on a production warrant, and both were lodged in Mumbai Central Jail since then.The SP also said that Section 111 of the BNS, which deals with organized criminal gangs, has been invoked in the case and is considered similar in effect to MCOCA-type provisions against organized crime syndicates.Earlier, accused Arpit Sharma, Rohit Singh, Azad alias Harry, and Shiva Singh alias Shiva Gurjar had already been arrested in the same case and are currently lodged in jail.
