Ghaziabad: Three men were arrested and a minor was detained for allegedly murdering a 32-year-old man in Kavi Nagar, police said on Monday. On April 10, police found the body of Jitendra Chauhan with four bullet wounds in a drain in Chiranjeevi Vihar near the railway line. His scooter was found parked 500 meters away near the Diamond flyover. His wife, Chital, filed a complaint at the Kavi Nagar police station and based on that, an FIR was registered under BNS Section 103 (murder).Kavi Nagar ACP Suryabali Maurya said several teams were formed to nab Wave City resident Gaurav Kumar and Bamheta village residents Bobby Pal and his two sons, aged 19 and 17. With the help of CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and surveillance, they were arrested from the service road in front of Om Gate, Chowki Audyogik Kshetra on Sunday night.During investigation, police found that Bobby was Jitendra’s brother-in-law and Gaurav was his cousin.Gaurav allegedly told the police that Jitendra purportedly tried to rape his 15-year-old sister about two months ago. He further alleged that Jitendra targeted his mother two years ago as well. Gaurav objected to his actions and Jitendra assaulted him publicly. “Jitendra organized a prayer session (jagran) at his house a few days ago. There, he brought out the topic and humiliated Gaurav again,” the ACP said.Gaurav started looking for ways to settle scores with Jitendra. Soon, he came to know that Jitendra tried to force himself on Bobby’s daughter-in-law (19-year-old Vishant’s wife). The Pal family was also distressed by Jitendra’s behaviour. “The four of them then hatched a plan to keep Jitendra away from raping the female members of his own family. They shot at Jitendra on Feb 8. He was on his scooter and so but the bullet missed him,” the ACP said. The men then attempted to kill Jitendra on April 9. Vishant’s younger brother called him up on that Thursday evening and said, “Mama, I need your help. Vishant is lying drunk under the Diamond flyover. Please come quickly.”After a short while, Jitendra arrived on his scooter and tried to lift Vishant when he threw a handful of chilli powder into Jitendra’s eyes. As he writhed in pain, Gaurav and Bobby leapt upon Jitendra. They fired three shots at him, out of which two hit Jitendra, and he fell into a drain. He staggered and tried to come out of the drain, but Bobby fired another round, this time from a country-made pistol or a pistol. “The men did not know how many bullets had hit Jitendra. They were scared about being discovered and immediately fled,” the ACP said. “The men hid the pistol and the deceased’s mobile phone in the bushes in the industrial area. We have recovered the country-made pistol from one of the accused. We are trying to find out how they acquired the illegal pistol.”
