Believe it or not: A movie trailer screening up in the sky? That's surely a record

Most films drop trailers on social media, Sony decided to head straight for the stratosphere. The result? A Guinness World Record and a marketing stunt that actually lives up to the cliche – out of this world. The sci-fi film Project Hail Mary officially claimed the title for the Highest Altitude IMAX Film Trailer. We’re talking about a screening at 1,01,896 feet above Earth. For those keeping a score at home, Yes, that’s way above your average commercial flight. An out-of-earth experienceHow do you play a trailer where there’s no oxygen or no WiFi? Makers tapped the engineers of Sent Into Space, who built a custom-fiber launch vehicle and a tiny IMAX replica screen tough enough to survive the kind of sub-zero temperatures that would turn a normal smartphone into a paperweight. The setup was launched into the upper stratosphere, with front-row seats to the curvature of the planet. The trailer played like the universe’s most exclusive screening. As the team at Sent Into Space put it : “After a lovely spot of sunbathing at the launch site, we completed our pre-flight checks and sent the craft on its merry way into the far reaches of the upper stratosphere.”
