Gurgaon: Two men died in separate hit-and-run accidents late on Thursday night and early Friday — one while riding home from work on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, the other while out for a walk in Palam Vihar. In both cases, the vehicles that struck them fled, leaving police to piece together the final moments and trace the drivers.The first victim, Amit Kumar (37) of Rajasthan, was hit by a vehicle on NH-8 near Murali Wala Dhaba in Bilaspur. Kumar, who worked for a private company in Manesar, was returning home on his Hero Splendor when an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle.According to a complaint filed by his younger brother, Hitesh Kumar, the impact threw Amit onto the road, causing fatal injuries. Police said they received information about the crash around Friday midnight and reached the spot soon after. He was taken to General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body was later handed over to the family after an autopsy.“We are trying to trace the vehicle involved in the accident using technical inputs and local intelligence,” said Rajesh, the investigating officer. A case was registered under sections 281 and 106 of BNS for rash driving and causing death by negligence.In the second case, Arpit Singh (32) of Agra died in a late-night hit-and-run in Palam Vihar. Singh, who worked with a private company and lived in the area on rent, had stepped out for a walk after dinner around 12.15am on April 16, according to a complaint filed by his elder brother, Amit Singh.Police said Arpit was walking from Krishna Chowk towards the C-2 gate in Palam Vihar when an unidentified vehicle hit him from behind. The force of the collision flung him to the roadside, leaving him fatally injured. A passerby took him to Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him brought dead.His body was kept in the mortuary, and his brother identified him on Friday. Police have registered a case under sections 281 and 106 of the BNS against an unknown driver.An investigating officer said efforts were underway to identify the vehicle and driver.
