Spate of attacks on women in Nalanda sparks concern
In Nalanda district, the alarming rise in violence against women has reached a critical point. A tragic shooting has claimed the life of a 16-year-old student, while a woman has reportedly been murdered by her husband and two others have sustained life-threatening injuries during a separate shooting incident.

Biharsharif: : A series of violent incidents targeting women in Nalanda district has raised serious concern with two women critically injured in a firing incident and another allegedly beaten to death by her husband within 12 hours.In one of the most shocking cases, a 16-year-old school student was shot dead at her rented accommodation in Harnaut on March 27. The case remains unresolved even after more than 15 days, raising questions over the pace of the investigation.Earlier this month, another girl allegedly died by suicide after being raped by a village youth. In a separate case under Noorsarai police station limits, a woman was sexually assaulted by a group of men. The incident surfaced after a video went viral, triggering outrage. Of the 12 accused named in the FIR, eight have been arrested while two have surrendered.In Jagdishpur Milkiper village, two women were critically injured after an armed attack following a dispute over dumping paddy residue. Family members alleged the accused assaulted them and opened fire. The injured were taken to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital and later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).Sadar DSP (2) Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal said police have inspected the spot and launched raids to arrest the accused.In another case, a 30-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband after a domestic dispute. “When I reached, I found her lying dead with multiple injury marks,” her father said.Noorsarai SHO Arvind Kumar said, “The exact cause will be known after the post-mortem report. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.”
