Karren Brady's fitness routine at 57: Inside 'The Apprentice' star's 'hard work' regime that transformed her body

Karren Brady isn’t just known for her sharp business mind and high-profile role on ‘The Apprentice’. Lately, it’s her physical transformation that’s caught everyone’s eye. Watching her in her late 50s, looking fitter than ever, people want to know: how did she do it?Honestly, staying fit isn’t easy for anyone, but after 50, it gets a whole lot harder. Karren gets it; she acknowledges it, too. She’s juggling being a mother, a grandmother, and a TV personality, and still finds time to fit in exercise. She admits it’s “hard work,” telling the Daily Mail during an interview, “You have to find the time to go (to the gym), particularly as you get older.”

What does Karren Brady’s workout look like?

At 57, Karren Brady is a mother, a grandmother, the star of ‘The Apprentice’, and the former vice-chairman of West Ham United FC. It’s no joke to juggle so many hats at once, especially when you’ve crossed the 50’s milestone. So, how does Karen do it?Brady keeps it simple but strict: cardio and weights, with an occasional swim. She revealed that she follows a ‘very set’ routine when it comes to working out: “It’s mainly cardiovascular and weights, and I don’t mind the odd swim. I go three or four times a week. I never have set days, because I’ve got a full-time job, then I have to go to the House of Lords often to vote, so I fit it in where I can.”When asked about her transformation, she didn’t claim any magic tricks or quick fixes. No weight-loss injections, no shortcuts — just consistency, exercise, and lifestyle changes. In fact, Karren’s “health kick” really kicked in when she became a grandma in March 2024. “I wanted to be a fit, healthy grandma,” she told the Mail. She started eating healthier, working out, and, again, no drugs involved.Furthermore, Karren confessed that she’s tired of the rumors, especially about things like Ozempic. She’s clear: it’s all about hard work and routine. She told The Sun, “I’m not on Ozempic, but questions about women’s weight come up far more often than they should. I’d much prefer the conversation to be focused around my work.”So, what keeps her moving, even with a packed schedule? Besides gym workouts, cycling and walking play a huge part. Back in 2016, she shared with Closer that she began walking two miles a day to get herself in shape. And cycling is still in the mix for her now.But Karren admitted, “Losing weight is easier than maintaining it, but I’ve been making healthy and sensible choices, which is important as you get older. I cycle or walk everywhere, too.” That’s her secret: not fancy diets or supplements, but sticking to good habits.Brady shared that even her husband, Lord Sugar, has inspired her. He’s fit himself, and when they go on holiday, he and Karren’s husband cycle together. “He is great, he is very fit,” she admits. If anyone’s dishing out fitness tips, it’s him.Brady is realistic about what it takes, especially under the microscope that comes with TV. “It’s all about trying to be healthy and comfortable in your skin. It’s not easy when you’re in your mid-50s, seeing yourself on a high-definition 50-inch TV screen. But I am comfortable. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. I’m not on TV for my looks or my sparkling personality, but for my business brain, so I try to focus on that. But when you are on TV, it’s important that you feel presentable and half-decent.”A friend once described her (to The Sun) “gruelling gym routines” and her “iron will” when it comes to dieting. Karren says she tries to lose about 5kg before Apprentice filming starts each year. But she’s adamant, again and again, that this isn’t about weight-loss fads.At the end of the day, Karren says she doesn’t even weigh herself all that much. “I have lost quite a bit – I don’t know though as I don’t weigh myself. I feel better for it. It is good because everything you put on fits.” That’s what matters. As for the endless speculation, she makes it clear: “Questions about women’s weight come up far more often than they should. I’d much prefer the conversation to be focused around my work. I’ve been called too fat, too thin and everything in between. I’ve had a lifetime of it. All I want is to feel strong, physically and mentally.”
