The ancient texts state that Lord Buddha was born as a prince named Siddhartha, who was always surrounded by luxuries and worldly delights. His mother was a Koliyan princess, while his father, Suddhodana, was the leader of the Shakya tribe. He was kept indoors to prevent him from being influenced toward a religious life because it was predicted at birth that he would become a powerful emperor. Once he saw a dead, an elderly man, and a sick man and he became unhappy while seeing them suffering. At the age of 29, he left home in pursuit of solutions because he was driven to discover the causes of a man’s misery. He sought enlightenment by sitting under a banyan tree and engaging in intense meditation. At the age of 35, he woke up with all the answers and was known as Mahatma Buddha. He urged people to follow a spiritual path, imparted the lessons, and raised awareness of spirituality.
