Chatra: A drug peddler was arrested with 6 grams of brown sugar by Rajpur police during a vehicle checking drive in Chatra district on Sunday under the district-wide anti-drugs campaign, police said.The accused was identified as Dilip Thakur (29), a resident of Kanhachatti under Rajpur police station area in Chatra district, police added.Chatra SDPO Sandeep Kumar said, “Acting on a tip-off received by SP Animesh Naithany about the movement of a person carrying narcotic substances on a scooter from Hesaparam village towards BK High School in Kanhachatti, officer in-charge of the Rajpur police station Rupesh Rai launched a vehicle checking drive on the Hesaparam Road.”“Police intercepted a suspicious rider of a scooter. The search led to the recovery of 6 gm of brown sugar from the possession of the rider,” he added.An FIR has been lodged against the accused. Further investigation to know the origin of the brown sugar and the others involved is under way, the SDPO added.
