Noida: Police have solved a double murder case within 24 hours with the arrest of a 24-year-old gardener accused of killing two co-workers at a private management institute in Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-3.The accused, Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Meerut, was arrested near the Gurjarpur railway line under the Knowledge Park police station area after a police encounter. A country-made pistol and cartridges were recovered from his possession.The deceased, Sheeshpal and Indra alias Dharmendra, both 45 and residents of Meerut, were found dead with multiple injuries inside an under-construction hostel at the institute on Friday morning.According to police, the three men had come to Greater Noida earlier this week to work as gardeners at the institute. Investigators suspected Abhishek after he fled the premises before the bodies were discovered.“Given the suspicious circumstances, police registered a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the BNS,” Greater Noida DCP Dr. Pravin Ranjan Singh said.Police said Abhishek was intercepted on a dirt road leading towards the Gurjarpur railway line on Saturday. Following his arrest, another case under BNS Section 109 (attempt to murder) and relevant sections of the Arms Act was registered against him.During interrogation, Abhishek allegedly confessed to the murders and told police that he held a long-standing grudge against Sheeshpal over the latter’s past relationship with his deceased sister.According to the accused, Sheeshpal frequently taunted him over the matter, while Indra also joined in mocking him. Police said Abhishek planned the murders before coming to Greater Noida and joined the same workplace under the pretext of employment.Police said that on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, Abhishek allegedly made both men consume alcohol while he himself drank very little to remain conscious.After the two men fell asleep in an intoxicated state, he allegedly attacked Sheeshpal with a shovel, repeatedly striking his head and body. During the assault, Indra woke up, following which Abhishek allegedly attacked him as well, inflicting multiple blows on his head and other parts of the body.The bodies were discovered on Friday morning, after which police launched an investigation that led to Abhishek’s arrest within a day.
