Colleges see admission rush even before Class 12 results

Gurgaon: Even before the declaration of Class 12 results, the buzz around college admissions has picked up pace across the city, with students proactively exploring their higher education options.Although the results are still about two weeks away, aspirants are already gathering detailed information about their preferred colleges and courses.Govt colleges in the district are witnessing a noticeable rise in footfall as students visit campuses to inquire about academic programmes, faculty availability, laboratories, libraries and other facilities. Among the most sought-after institutions are the Govt Girls College in Sector 14 for women students and co-educational institutions such as Dronacharya Govt College on Railway Road and Govt PG College in Sector 9, which continue to attract a large number of applicants every year. The district has a total of 10 govt colleges offering nearly 10,000 seats for first-year undergraduate courses, prompting students to begin early preparations to secure admission to the best possible institution. To assist them in making informed decisions, colleges are also gearing up to provide proper guidance and support during the admission process. As per the schedule released by the Higher Education Department, the admission process for undergraduate courses will commence in the first week of May. Online registration will be open from May 7 to May 31, while document verification will take place between May 9 and June 6.The first merit list is scheduled to be released on June 11, followed by the fee submission window from June 12 to June 15. The second merit list will be published on June 17, with fee submission from June 18 to June 22 and final adjustments on June 24. For vacant seats, a fresh application window will open from June 25 onwards. To streamline the process, all colleges have been directed to set up special help centers equipped with computer facilities to assist students in filling out online forms free of cost. Additionally, institutions have been instructed to update all essential details — including courses, seat matrix and fee structure — on the admission portal by April 25.
